Attorney Larry ChurchThese are just a few of the words that clients and opposing counsel use when describing Larry. For more than 30 years, Larry has devoted himself to representing his clients with great skill and commitment while never forgetting that not only his clients, but those opposing them, are first and foremost people who deserve to be treated fairly and with respect.

Primarily, Larry is a trial lawyer. Over his career, he has represented clients whose disputes range from a few hundred dollars to millions of dollars. Larry approaches each case the same way — with intense preparation and overwhelming enthusiasm. Larry handles all types of civil litigation, including business, personal injury, real estate and other areas of the law.

Over the last few years, Larry has concentrated his practice in the areas of ADR/Mediation. He is currently a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and is serving as the Chair of the Louisville Bar Association’s ADR section. He has mediated thousands of civil disputes encompassing all areas of Civil Litigation. Larry assists parties by utilizing his common sense in combination with the skills learned over the course of his career to craft cost-effective and appropriate resolutions of disputes.

“I’m good at solving problems.  That’s probably my greatest strength.  I can see the forest through the trees.  I listen well, and I don’t get sidetracked.  I always keep the end goal in mind.”

Larry is originally from Portsmouth, Ohio, and spent most of his adult life living in Louisville, Kentucky.  He primarily practices within the state of Indiana.  He is licensed and actively engaged in the law in Indiana and Kentucky.

Larry graduated from Kent State University in 1988 with a B.A. in English, earning induction into Phi Beta Kappa.  He then attended the University of Cincinnati School of Law where he obtained his J.D.  Prior to joining Church, Langdon, Lopp, Banet Law Firm in New Albany, IN, Larry began his legal career as a Public Defender, where he represented thousands of indigent individuals. From the PD office, Larry transitioned to the regional law firm of Wyatt, Tarrant and Combs, where he practiced for 15 years. He then operated the southern Indiana office of McNeely Stephenson for more than 10 years. Most recently Larry, along with his partners, opened the New Albany office of Church, Langdon, Lopp, Banet Law in 2020.

Larry describes his style as relaxed and conversational.  He prefers a sweater and jeans to a suit and tie.  He likes the law firm’s pet-friendly policy, which includes supporting pet rescue initiatives and the Humane Society.  At the law firm, it’s not uncommon to find a puppy under a desk or in the hallway.  He also enjoys the law firm’s commitment to the local community.

“We were all either born, grew up in or live this community.  We feel very blessed by our success and it’s important to all of us to give back.  It’s a way of equaling out all that we’ve been given.  When we get involved in an activity or an event, we don’t just write a check — we show up.”

Larry and his partner, Chris, live in New Albany with their beagles, Maya and Juno, and their two dangerously overweight cats, Aro and Gatsby. Chris is an avid historian and currently works as the Director at the Conrad Caldwell House Museum. They are both active in their communities and participate in a variety of fitness activities as well as enjoying traveling, movies and music.
